The deadline for applications for the 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards has been extended.The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council has announced the recipients for the fifth annual Mayor's Awards for the Arts, to be presented at the Sunday Wearable Arts Extravaganza on Feb. 12 at 3 p.m., at Centennial Hall.When the Jackson-based Mississippi Humanities Council announced recipients of its 2012 Public Humanities Awards Thursday, Beverly Norris of Columbus, and the Columbus Arts Council, were named to receive the Humanities Partner Award.The President?s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is accepting applications for the 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards.Kansas Voices sponsored by the Winfield Arts & Humanities Council is back for its 23rd year. "Submit your short stories, prose, or poetry as we commemorate another year of writing," said Cheryl Tate, WAHC executive director.The second CHAT Festival will be held at Duke Feb. 6 - 9.The Sierra Vista Arts & Humanities Commission award winners are Harlan White, Dorothy Scheafer, Jean and Dave Perry, Arts and Humanities Chairwoman Tanya Biami, Mayor Rick Muller, Michael Boardman and Tracie Lane accepting for University South Foundation, Bud Strom accepting for Mike and Lori Rutherford, and Dr. Duane Chun.
